Midway Manor Psychiatric Residence is a private psychiatric residence in Sydenham, Johannesburg, providing residential mental health care and support programmes for adults living with schizophrenia and bipolar mood disorder.

Our residence is suitable for adults between the ages of 21 and 60 who are living with schizophrenia or bipolar mood disorder and would benefit from a structured, supportive environment.

We offer three programmes:• Long Term Psychiatric Programme• Midway Programme (3 to 6 month transitional programme)• Day Programme

No. Midway Manor is not a hospital. We are a residential psychiatric facility that provides ongoing support, supervision and structured programmes for individuals who no longer require hospitalisation but still need a supportive environment.

No. We are not a rehabilitation or substance abuse treatment facility. We specialise in supporting adults living with schizophrenia and bipolar mood disorder.

Yes. Medication is supervised by our psychiatric nurse to support compliance and long term stability. Residents also receive medical monitoring and access to professional psychiatric care.

Yes. Residents have access to an in-house psychiatrist who visits the residence regularly.

The length of stay depends on the individual's needs. Some residents stay with us long term, while others join our Midway Programme for a shorter transitional period.

Residents follow a structured daily routine that may include:• Therapeutic groups and activities• Leisure time and social interaction• Daily exercise and walks• Meals and personal time• Medication management and support Routine and consistency play an important role in maintaining wellbeing and stability.

Residents receive three nutritious meals each day, along with snacks.

Yes. Our team assists with arranging doctor appointments and provides support where needed.

Family involvement is important to us. Visiting arrangements can be discussed with our team, and we encourage ongoing family support and communication.

We maintain regular communication with families and provide feedback regarding their loved one's wellbeing and progress.

Yes. We have access to wifi and a private space can be provided available for residents who are able to work remotely.

Yes. Midway Manor is located in a secure, boomed area in Sydenham, Johannesburg and provides twenty four hour care and supervision.

No. We do not provide treatment for active substance abuse or drug rehabilitation.

No. Residents must be stable enough to participate safely in our programmes and residential environment.
